Resumen:
Wetlandsare ecosystems frequently impacted by metal contamination. Aquatic and wetlandplants play an important role in the uptake and accumulation of metals from naturalwetlands and constructed wetlands for the treatment of different wastewaters. Thischapter describes the macrophyte metal accumulation in constructed wetlands foreffluent treatment at different scales of study and in naturalwetlands that receives contaminants. The data showed in the chapter are referredto studies carried out at microcosms and field-scale wetlands constructed forthe treatment of industrial wastewaters. These results may contribute to thedesign and maintenance of these treatment systems and the contaminantmitigation in natural wetlands.
