Resumen:
In plants, an essential step in the study of the induced defense response against environmental stresses is todescribe the global changes that occur at the transcriptional level. In our laboratory, approximately 460cDNA clones were obtained from a differential screening of a cDNA library from F. eumartii-infectedpotato tubers. These cDNA potato clones were classified in different functional categories. In order toextend the study of these cDNAs we undertook an in silico expression analysis by using microarray dataavailable at TIGR. In particular, 44 cDNAs belonging to different functional categories were analyzedunder different experimental conditions, including biotic and abiotic stresses. A total of 28 cDNAs werespecifically up-regulated under biotic stress conditions. Among them, 7 potato cDNAs encode forribosomal proteins. Extraribosomal functions of the ribosomal proteins have been postulated. However, their roles in the plant defense response are still discussed. In conclusion, the in silico and experimentalexpression analysis allowed us to select them as a set of genes with potential interest to further study of theplant defense response.Supported by UNMdP, ANPCyT and CONICET
