Resumen:
The aim was to evaluate the gene expressionof insulin like growth factor (IGF)1, IGF2 and IGF receptor (IGFR)1 in in the pregnant uterus and theendotheliochorial placenta of bitches. Unlike previous studies, which dealt with IGFs expression in thepreimplantation, placental and interplacental uterine sites, our results evidence the expression of IGF1,IGF2 and of IGFR1 in the interplacental uterus, in the labyrinth andin the more invasive area of the placenta: the HO. The higher expression of IGF1and IGFR1 in the non-implantation zone could be related to a more predominant role of IGF1 inendometrial development than in placental organogenesis. Therewere no significant differences in IGF2 expression among thethree zones, even though IGF2 is generally associated with areas or cellpopulations with higher invasive behaviour
