Resumen:
Community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) has become a major concern worldwide. We conducted a prospective multicenter study of invasive CA-MRSA to evaluate the clinical features and genotyping analysis of strains causing invasive infections in Argentina. This study describes the dissemination of the sequence type 30 (ST30) lineage as the main clone causing CA-MRSA invasive infections in Argentina. This clone genotyped as pulsed-field gel electrophoresis type C-staphylococcal cassette chromosome type IV-spa type 019 harboring the Panton-Valentine leukocidin has become prevalent in replacement of the previously described CAA clone (PFGE type A, SCCmec type IV, spa type 311).
