Resumen:
Argentina is one of the most developed Spanish language media markets in South America due to its high literacy rates and well-developed communications infrastructure. State intervention has characterized the market during the financial difficulties of the early 2000s. New subsidy policies were implemented in 2002 and 2003,and since 2004 the government has passed legislationthat exempts media firms from a national bankruptcy law that would allow foreign creditors to purchase their assets, extended their licensing arrangements, and granted tax exemptions. This paper analizes media ownership in Argentina.
