Here, we aimed to investigate whether the molecular mechanisms involved in memory expression could affect memory persistence induced by retraining. Using a spatial object recognition (SOR) task in rats, we assessed the effects of spaced learning to make long-term memory (LTM) lasting. We propose that the promotion of memory persistence is based on the Behavioral Tagging (BT) mechanism that operates when the memory trace is retrieved during the retraining session.
