Resumen:
The state of the art of the development in Argentina of solar arrays for space applications, particularly for SAOCOM satellite mission, is presented. This work is performed within the frame of a cooperation agreement between the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) and the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE). Activities done in some relevant issues are reviewed: simulation and design, fabrication of interconnectors, soldering and bonding processes, radiation damage analysis and testing techniques. A chamber for testing solar cells and other satellite devices in a simulated space environment is also presented. Finally, integration and qualification tests of the first engineering module are described.
