Resumen:
TiO2 supported catalysts were prepared over diatomites calcined at 800°C and 400°C. On these supports different mass percentages of TiO2 (between 9 and 20 % w / w) were deposited. The obtained catalysts calcined to 500°C, were characterized by means of different physicochemical techniques and were evaluated in the photodegradation of tartrazine in water solution, a coloring widely used in the food industry. The obtained results show that the materials with 20 % of TiO2 degraded the tartrazine more rapidly, reaching between 85 % and 90 % of degradation depending on the used speed of calcination. However the materials with 9 % of TiO2 only reach a percentage of degradation of between 16 % and 18 % in the same time of essay.
