Resumen:
Prednisone is an oral steroid widely used in the treatment of allergic disorders, immunosuppression, asthma, leukaemia, liver disorders, and cancer chemotherapy. Like many other glucocorticoids belonging to Class II, it is slightly soluble in water and, as a consequence, it can exhibit low and/or variable bioavailability after oral administration. Solid dispersion technique is a very useful tool in dosage form development for increasing the solubility and dissolution rate of poorly soluble drugs. Thus, the aim of this work was to study the potential of solid dispersions for development of fast-release capsules of prednisone using polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 as hydrophilic carrier.
