Climatic factors that determine Discaria trinervis (Rhamnaceae) annual growth are studied. For this purpose a comparative analysis between annual growth tree rings indexes and precipitation and temperature records is carried. Results allow out the conclusion that temperature during January, February, and March is determining for the secondary wood radial growth of D. trinervis, while for precipitation has apparently a non-significant role. The particular response of D. trinervis growth to summer temperature can be used for paleoclimatic studies on the region.
