Resumen:
r the administration of the convulsant 3-mercaptopropionic acidwas studied. This membrane enzyme presented an increase in itsactivity in certain fractions containing nerve endings and microsomes(Mic20, Micloo) in seizure and postseizure periods. 5´-nucleotidaseactivity in nuclear and myelin fractions did not show differencesbetween the control and treated fractions. On the other hand, adecreased activity in the crude mitochondrial fraction and in a nuclearsubfraction was found. It is suggested that the changes in the enzymeactivity in some cerebellum fractions might be related to structuralalterations previously observed in this laboratory and with the anticonvulsantactions of adenosine.Index Entries: 5´-Nucleotidase; 3-mercaptopropionic acid; cerebellumsubfractions; seizure and postseizure states.
