The rigorous solution for the statistical thermodynamics of multilayer adsorption of linear species is presented. The particular case of dimer adsorption is discussed and a new adsorption isotherm is proposed for determination of surface area and adsorption heat from experiments. The proposed model is simple, easy to apply in practice and leading to more realistic values of the above referred physical parameters with respect to the BET model.
