Resumen:
An experimental study of methane adsorption on very high surface area activated carbon was performed at laboratory as well as pilot scale. Adsorption isoherms on pelletized as well as powdered carbons were obtained for several temperatures and pressures range 0.5-35 atm (7-500 psia). Thermal effects due to adsorption heat were observed by messuring the variation of temperature of the outgassed carbon with time, after it is put in contact with methane at constant pressure. The efficiency of the adsorbent for methane storage was evaluated thorugh the calculation of the enhancement factor (EF) from pilot scale adsorption isotherms.
