Resumen:
Suminary: ne Parana River Delta ís a region ivith unique natural jeatures. ne Deltas wildlife is threatened due to the lark of adequaie development policies and the increasing hunting pressure by an economically depressed local population. Any conservation or management goal to be establishedfor the area isfaced with poor infonization about wildlife populanons and the scarce time andjunds to obtain these values. A quick and objectíve method tú select species priorities is proposed and applíed to mammais, hased on ¡be state of k7wiviedge of the d¿fferent species' conflias combined with Factorial Córrespondance Analysis and Hierarchical Classification. 7 hree groups of maminals with high scoring conj liets couId be defined: a) endangered species both locally and nwionwide (swamp deer, litile ríver otter andforest wíldcats), b) intensively exploited species (capybara, coypu and mulita) and c) hannful specíes (most rodeni species and weasels). We could relate their present sítuation is*h the destruction or alteration or habitats, past iíses and local traditions. As a result of this an alysis, thefollowing courses of action shouId be considered: 1) Rational management of mamnwls that are already being used,2) protection of threatened species and their habirais and 3) non destructive control of hannful jpecies.
