Resumen:
Arsenic (As) is a natural contaminant in many Argentinian  aquifers and river, where different species and about 4 million people are exposed to arsenic concentrations above of 10 microg/L (national water quality standard). Additionally, the development of mining and industry promotes the rapid increase of environmental metal pollution in the north-Patagonian territory. So, a high contamination of As had been reported in rivers of the Cordillera de Neuquén. In order to analyze the possible toxicity of such pollution on the organisms and ecosystem, effects of As was studied using the autochthonous Argeninian toad as test model. Since As is bioaccumulated in exposed animals, As content and changes in the elemental concentration, as result of the As exposure, were evaluated along toad development.
