Resumen:
Experimental and computational studies are presented, in evaluating the structural integrity of two circumferentially cracked Cr-Mo-V steam pipes in a 300 MW gas/fuel oil steam generator with 40,000 h of operation. Remaining-life estimations concluded that the pipe would resist until next programmed maintenance shutoff. After a further running period of 15,000 h, a new inspection revealed a very good agreement between predicted and actual crack growth rates. Results of this study also showed that pipe cracking was produced by an incorrect design of a 10 mm auxiliary pipe inlet. Therefore, a repair procedure involving a change in design was recommended
