Resumen:
Transgenic fertile Ro wheat plants were allowed to selfpolinize and their R1 progeny was obtained either by embryo rescue of by normal seed maturity. Seed set in transgenic Ro was frequently los probably due to the disminshed vigor of the in vitro plants. Seed were germinated in Petri dish and plantlets were grown in a Percival growth chamber. The morphology, vigor and seed production of R1 plants were normal. DNA of R1 plants was extracted from leaf tissue. Transgenic R1 were identified by PCR amplification of the bar gene. The proportion of transgenic R1 plants in 4 families were 9/14, 6/8, 4/4 and 7/9, adding up to 26/35. In vivo resistance was tested by exposing R1 plant to 0.005% of commercial herbicide glufosinate.
