Resumen:
Hotspots for  mammals conservation in  Tucumán, Argentina. The identification of priority areas for the conservation of the biodiversity requires of the use of methods that represent all the species efficiently. In this work, data of occurrence of mammals in the Tucumán province were used to identify areas of importance for the conservation of this group, through quantitative methods based on diverse approaches: richness, rarity, half value of conservation, complementary áreas and of the application of an index for the selection of species that potentially would act as umbrella for sympatric species. The overlaps of hotspots evidenced in the combination of approaches (e.g. richness, rarity, threatens, or half value of conservation) was in general very low, however when considering the approaches in independent form the forest of Yungas it was the bioma that concentrated the hotspots of richness, threatened species and rarity, determining the priority of this bioma for the conservation. In terms of maximizing the richness of species minimizing the necessary areas for their protection, the selection of umbrella species or the selection of complementary cells can be but suitable to optimize the conservation of regional assemblage of species.
