This work presents a new model based on the Mixture Model and the Volume of Fluid methodcapable to manage flows with different scale of interphases respect to a measure of the mesh. The modelrelies on the concept of Detached Interphase Simulation (DIS) or the switching of the base modelsalong the domain as an analogy of the Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) methods used for turbulencesimulation. The model is implemented using the OpenFOAM R libraries and the obtained solver is thentested in several cases taken from the literature and proposed by the authors. In order to evaluate theperformance of the model new quantitative measures are also proposed. The analysis of the resultsshows that the DIS model performs better than the base models with different levels of improvementrelated to the fluids density ratio.
