La teoría del progreso a partir de la idea de naturaleza

There are two schools of thought regarding the origins of the idea of Progress. One of them tries to show the continuity between the idea of Providence and the secular idea of Progress. The other one holds that the idea of Progress is a modern by product of the eighteenth century Enlightenment. In this paper I want to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both theories. I also defend an alternative interpretation: the idea of Nature as the basis from which the idea of Progress is derived. We cannot deny that it is a process of secularization which turns on Nature first and then reverts on history.
