Resumen:
SUMMARY A comparative evaluation was made of the development of parasitaemia in mice, rats and guinea pigs inoculated with a cloned population of C/0287 diskine-toplastic Trypanosoma evansi. The developmen of the parasitic infection and behaviour through experimental infection, with regards to the prepatent period, number of parasites in blood, parasitaemia remittence, survival and mortality, determined a high susceptibility for mice and rats, and only moderate for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs reproduced the disease both with an acuts and chronic presentation, showing an identical parasitaemia to that seen in horse infected with T. evansí. Results are analyzed under viewpoint of considering guinea pigs as being usenful for laboratory research, similar to those conditions encountered in hors with T. evansi trypanosomiasis. At the same time, a horse was inoculated with C/ 0187 T. evansi, also a diskinetoplastic clon studing the parasitaemia and its development, relation with body temperature and clinical signs.
