Living New World marsupials can be divided in two groups:1) Microbiotheria and Paucituberculata, remnants of a once highlydiverse radiation;2) Didelphimorphia, a recently (Oligocene?) diversified group.“General” bauplan with variations in size, locomotion, ecology,reproduction, and physiology.Despite being relatively common and representing ca. 10% of allSouth American mammals, they are still poorly known.
