Resumen:
Assemblages of small mammals (from 90 localities representing a diversity of hábitats within each of the three landscape provinces and 7 of the 10 sections recognized by the recently developed Ecological Classification System for Minnesota) were studied in an effort to gain insight on the relative importance of ecological versus ecogeographic influences on the composition of small mammal communities. Our question was: will small mammal assemblages in a highly diverse and anthropogenically modified region such as Minnesota follow the upper levels of a hierarchical landscape classification, or will landscape affinities be lost to local habitat variation?
