In September 2009, during the joint meeting of the IV Congreso Argentino de Cuaternario y Geomorfología, XII Congresso da Assoçiacão Brasileira de Estudos do Quaternário, and II Reunión sobre el Cuaternario de América del Sur held at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, we organized the symposium named ?Multidisciplinary Studies in Archaeology?. This conference was sponsored by several institutions including INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research). This symposium was coordinated by Mariano Bonomo and Gustavo Martínez served as symposium discussant. Our objective was to supply a place to discuss the most recent results produced by multidisciplinary studies carried out at archaeological sites in Southern South America ranging from studies of early hunter-gatherers through the historic period. The present volume of Quaternary International includes a selection of papers presented in this productive symposium.
