Resumen:
the main goal of the work is to compare adhesion, wear and corrosion resistance of TiN coatings obtained with PVD combined with Implantation (PBII&D)on AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel previously plasma nitrided, which it is named Duplex treatmentPBII& D coatings were thicker than the others, probably due to theimplantation effect, which also improved the coating structureThe commercial TiN samples presented a lot of pinholes, that couldbe the reason for the bad corrosion behaviour. The TiN (111) preferential orientation in the Commercial coatingmeans predominant nitrogen presence at the surface, and it couldexplain the good wear results. On the other hand the same coating was poor in adhesionproperties, probably because of the absence of the Ti interlayerIn summary, the PBII&D process remained as the best optionto deposit a TiN coating, improving the adhesion, wear and thecorrosion resistance.
