Resumen:
A series of flares (GOES class M, M and C) was observed on 20-JAN-2004. TRACE EUV, Kwasan Ha images and a series of  MDI  magnetograms allowed the flare magnetic connectivities to be deduced. The associated CME is discussed and the role of an oscillation in a nearby streamer structure is described. From the timing of the flares, CME features and metric type II bursts, a model is given that can explain the relationship of the compact flares to the release of the CME in the context of the largescale magnetic field environment.
