Resumen:
In January 1967, two solar physicists, working on opposite sides of the Iron Curtain,lalunched a new topical research journal called Solar Physics. Although both were head-quartered in Europe, the editorial duo of Cornelis de Jager and Zdenek ?vestka (de Jager and ?vestka, 1967) assembled a large and resolutely international editorial board, with 39 mem-bers spread over four continents ? testimony to their intent of making Solar Physicsa premier publishing venue striving to overcome geographical, political, and cultural barriers.
