The migration from Cape Verde to Argentina started at the end of the XIX century, without a precise date, and became important ?though never as important as the main migratory waves that populated the country- in the first half of the XX century. This first stage, in which the Cape Verdean presence becomes invisible, diluted in the local scenario, is being counteracted by some youth groups from the second and third generation of immigrants, who are now claiming their origin and ethnic affiliation. Their presence has become apparent. New spaces are being conquered in the arena of social mobility, cultural expression and political participation. The analysis of these issues will be the central goal of this chapter .
