Resumen:
In this work we have developed a program destined to design degenerate primers from an alingment of proteins. The uses of the primers designed are multiples for examples finding and sequencing new species and may help at the designing of family-specific primers. As a experimetal aproach to verify the utility of the program, we run it on an aligment of twenty arenavirus N protein. Apiling the best one handred primers obtained we found a few regions in the aligment suitable for primer design. Many of these regions coincide with primers previously designed and tested experimentally in our laboratory and a other laboratory in Spain. This assay was blind in the fact that we don´t know at the moment of developing and running of the program the sequences of the previous primers.
