Resumen:
The updating of an Origin-Destination matrix is fundamental in transportation planning and nowadays also in simulation and forecasting of traffic conditions. In this work we focus in the known formulation of this problem as a bilevel optimizaton problem. Uptodate, the numerical solution of this optimization problem has been made using heuristic approximations. Instead, we propose to use a lifting method that allows to obtain an optimality condition in the form of a nonsmooth equation system that can be solved by a Newton type method. We also present numerical experiments showing the performance of the new method applied to well known academic networks.
