Resumen:
Occurrences of arsenic (As) in groundwater and its impact onmillions of individuals worldwide is a serious environmentalhealth issue. The sources of As are both natural and anthropogenicand affect different regions of the world both ona local as well as a regional scale. This special issue aims topresent a wide and multi-disciplinary coverage of themesrelated to the problem of As contamination in the environmentand the approaches that could be adopted for sustainablemitigation. These themes include: 1) arsenic in rocks,ground- and surface water: occurrence, genesis and mobility;2) arsenic remediation and mitigation: sustainable industrialscaleand emerging small-scale options; and 3) arsenic exposure, health risk assessment and other socioeconomicimpacts of mitigation.
