The present world is facing the rise of emerging powers in a new relation between economy and politics. Contradictory phenomenas are occurring at the same time. There is a concentration of power in fewer hands, together with a diffusion of power in multiple centers. The classic division between North and South -industrialized/ underdeveloped- is getting more complex and unclear. There are emerging ?Souths? in the North and emerging ?Norths? in the South. Power is looking for new geographies, moving from the North and West to the South and East. Some emerging are coming from the South, but the South is now being ?re shaped?. As in any transition, traditional categories have been scrambled up. The old and the new are coexisting. Old coalitions are still surviving and new are emerging. Multilateralism is the sign of the times, uncertainty also, showing the proliferation of governmental and non governmental actors in varied associations, groups and coalitions around specific issue-areas Emerging countries? What are their responsibilities in shaping the present order? What will be their behavior? Will they behave as big powers? Will they be the new oligarchy to run the world? What are challenging the emerging?
