Resumen:
Liabum, the core genus of the tribe Liabeae, contains 26 species distributed from southeastern Mexico to northwestern Argentina, and in the West Indies (Cuba, Jamaica, and Hispaniola). Its main center of diversity is in Ecuador and Peru. Its species are perennial herbs, sub-shrubs, or shrubs, rarely scandent shrubs or little trees, without latex, with opposite, tripliveined leaves, radiate, heterogamous capitula, and yellow corollas. It is morphologically close to the genera Ferreyranthus, Oligactis, and Sampera. This revision includes two new species from Ecuador and Peru, Liabum dillonii and L. robinsonii, respectively. In addition, 151 names of taxa are excluded from Liabum, among them L. diehlii, L. ferreyri, and L. sandemanii by first time. A morphological analysis of Liabum, descriptions, illustrations and maps for each species, and the first key distinguishing all the species of Liabum are performed.
