Both milk and vegetables, and the food products derived from them, are considerednutrient-dense foods being a source of a large variety of healthful nutrients but providing relativelylow (or medium in the case of dairy foods) energy. Their consumption is recommendedfor a well-equilibrated diet. But beyond their nutritional worth, dairy- and vegetable-basedfoods supply a myriad of health-promoting biologically active compounds.
