Tracer dispersion of non-newtonian fluids in a Hele Shaw cell

We report here a study of the transport and tracer dispersion properties of $uids in a model offractured media. The tracer dispersion process was analyzed using Newtonian and non-Newtonian$uids (polymeric solutions). Experiments were carried out in a HeleShaw cell using axial $owand dyes as tracers. We analyze the in$uence of polymers presenting shear-thinning characteristicsonthe dispersionproperties. It was found that the dispersioncoe7cien t decreases whenpolymer concentration increases.
