The useofapodizingorsuperresolving filters improvestheperformanceofanopticalsystemindifferentfrequencybands.ThisimprovementcanbeseenasanincreaseintheOTFvaluecomparedtotheOTFforthe clearaperture.In thispaperweproposeamethodtoenhancethecontrastofanimageinbothitslowanditshighfrequencies.ThemethodisbasedonthegenerationofasyntheticOpticalTransferFunction,bymulti-plexingtheOTFsgivenbytheuseofdifferentnon-uniformtransmission filters onthepupil.Weproposeto capturethreeimages,oneobtainedwithaclearpupil,oneobtainedwithanapodizing filter thatenhances thelowfrequenciesandanotheronetakenwithasuperresolving filter thatimprovesthehighfrequencies.IntheFourierdomainthethreespectraarecombinedbyusingsmoothedpassband filters,and thentheinversetransformisperformed.Weshowthatwecancreateanenhancedimagebetterthanthe imageobtainedwiththeclearaperture.Toevaluatetheperformanceofthemethod,bartests(si-nusoidal tests)withdifferentfrequencycontentareused.Theresultsshowthatacontrastimprovementin thehighandlowfrequenciesisobtained.
