The escalating issue of single-use plastic waste accumulation demands innovativesolutions that can transform environmental liabilities into economic assets. Pyrolysis ofpolystyrene waste offers a promising route to address this challenge by convertingdiscarded plastics into valuable products. The objective is to develop a sustainable andeconomically viable PS pyrolysis process. By doing so, a circular approach to managingplastic waste is obtained, thereby reducing the environmental burden and dependency onvirgin plastic production. A model for the combination pyrolysis reactor-separation ofliquids is proposed, and the net present value considering a time span of 10 years iscalculated as 4.85 MMU$S resulting in a potentially feasible process at this stage.
