Resumen:
The vast majority of the Drosophila melanogaster seminal fluid proteins (SFPs) are highly or mainly expressed in the male accessory glands and are supplied into the seminal fluid through merocrine secretion. The vast majority of the D. melanogaster genes that are both highly/mainly expressed in the male accessory glands and in silico predicted to encode secretory proteins are known to encode SFPs.Criteria based on expression level in the male reproductive tract and predicted ability to encode secretory proteins may provide valuable information to identify a large number of SFPs in non-model Drosophila species.
