Resumen:
In this chapter we discuss coloniality in Tierra del Fuego, considering its impact on the life conditions in general and the health in particular of all people involved (especially indigenous groups). An interdisciplinary approach provides the opportunity to integrate the results obtained through different lines of evidence, techniques, etc. Furthermore, it allows discussing the relationships among different variables taken into account. In the first section of the work we consider the global processes that encouraged cultural interaction in Tierra del Fuego, and we stress the particular features of coloniality in the region. In the second section we try to deepen the understanding of colonialism (that is, the moment when cultural interactions were increased) by means of a case study: the old Salesian Mission Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria, which operated in Río Grande between 1893 and 1930.
