Resumen:
The influence of Sn addition on the catalytic activity of Pt-Re/Al2O3 catalysts used in naphtha reforming was studied. Trimetallic Pt-Re-Sn catalysts supported on chlorided alumina were prepared by coimpregnation. The content of Re and Pt were 0.3% (w/w), while the Sn load was varied between 0 to 0.9 % (wt). In order to compared, it were also prepared Pt/Al2O3, Pt-Sn/Al2O3 and Pt-Re/Al2O3 catalysts. The acid function of the catalysts were characterized by temperature programme desorption of pyridine and n-pentane isomerization reaction. The cyclohexane dehydrogenation was used to assess the metal function. It was found that Sn decreases more than Re the metal activity of Pt, moreover the Sn decreases the strong acids sites of alumina leading a catalysts with less cracking activity. On the other hand, the Sn addition to Pt-Re catalysts decreases the typical hydrogenolysis activity and increases the isomerization activity. The Sn addition produced a enhanced stability, selectivity and activity of the trimetallic Pt-Re-Sn/Al2O3 catalyst ever for a small quantities of Sn. Key words: Naphtha reforming, trimetallic catalysts, Pt-Re-Sn.
