Resumen:
Increasing rural emigration in Latin America, promoted by globalization-related socioeconomic changes, is favoring the abandonment of areas which are marginal for agriculture. The process, most important in areas of steep slope and subhumid conditions, favors the recovery of natural ecosytems and thus of biodiversity and environmental services.
