Resumen:
Based on camera-trap data, we quantified the richness and frequency of records of medium-large mammals at two distances from a trail with recreational use compared to one with lower use in Sierra San Javier Park, a periurban protected area of the Yungas of Tucumán. We recorded eight species of medium-large mammals in the less visited trail, but only four of these and in lower frequency on the trail with higher recreational use. Interviews with visitors about their perception and knowledge of wildlife revealed that 82% positively valued the presence of fauna, but only 26% mentioned knowing native species.
