Resumen:
In the first part of this work we present informally Chomsky’s linguistic theory as it appeared in (Chomsky 1965) that is the so called “Standard Theory”. In the second part we reconstruct the mentioned theory, focussing us on the syntactic components. This task is carried out from the structuralistic metatheoretical perspective, having in mind two main goals. First, we want to enrich the field of the formal reconstructions of empirical theories towards the domain of linguistic theories, an area with very few examples of model theoretical reconstructions. Second, we have the purpose of showing some advantages and contributions the metatheorical perspective of reconstruction can offer: (a) The clear determination of theoretical and non-theoretical terms of Chomsky’s theory, what will enable us to visualize the terms that have been properly introduced in this theory, the ones constituting the “identity” of the theory; (b)This characterization of terms will also make possible to see their internal relations, explicitly expressed in the hypotheses and laws of the theory; (c) Further, permanence, modifications or even the desertion of these hypotheses can –based on this formulation- be better recognized and evaluated. This is especially helpful if we attend to the many changes produces in Chomsky’s linguistic works and the possibility of rational reconstruction from a diachronic perspective. (d) Finally, we will also be able to show the way in which the application of the formal core of the theory to empirical domains results to be clearly realizable.
