Resumen:
This paper will present an analysis based on thelargest phylogenetic dataset ever assembled, consistingof 13 genes and morphology for numerous eukaryotictaxa. The results for the combined dataset recover theexisting taxonomy with high accuracy. For the mole-cule-only dataset, the results present more differenceswith major taxonomic groupings, but the agreement isstill very highly significant. A few misplaced speciesaside, the molecule-only trees display the bulk of themetazoans, green plants, fungi, red algae, stramenopiles, alveolates, and euglenozoans, in discrete groups. Thisshows that tree-calculation algorithms can effectivelyretrieve phylogenetic history for very large datasets, andprovides at the same time strong corroboration for themajor eukaryotic lineages long recognized by taxono-mists on the basis of morphology alone.
