Resumen:
Toxoplasmosis is a disease that affects 30% of the world?s population. At present, there are no pharmacological treatments that eliminatethe parasite or vaccines that confer protection to the host. Theaim of the present work was to study the immunogenicity of vaccineformulations containing a new cage-like particle adjuvant (ISPA) incombination with T. gondii recombinant proteins.METHODS: C57BL/6 mice were intradermally immunized 3-timeswith a 2-week interval with rGRA7, rTgPF, rTgPI-1 or rROP2 in combination with ISPA, and control groups received ISPA or PBS. Fourteen-days later, mice were orally challenged with a non-lethal doseof T. gondii cysts and after one month, brain cyst numbers weredetermined under optical microscope. Antigen-specific responseswere characterized two weeks after the last immunization in sera, spleen (SC) and draining lymph node (DLN) cultures.RESULTS: Significant reduction in brain parasite load was obtainedwith rGRA7+ISPA (p
