Resumen:
In 2010 Cecilia Fajardo Hill invited me to co-curate an exhibition of Latin American artists between 1960-1985. We wanted to address what their specific contribution had been and why, having been outstanding artists in their respective countries, they had been erased from the history of national and Latin American art. We focus on a period that corresponded with the second wave of feminism. We conceived this exhibition as the first historical exhibition that we will continuate in a second part from the 80s to the present. Radical Women wanted to deal with definitions, key words, contexts, to trace a history of this period in a myriad of Latin American Countries. We got a lot of criticism for not including men, and this was surprising. It was easy for us to add 10% men, but we decided to maintain our purpose to map women artists in LA during this time. This paper analyzes the process of this exhibition and the questions involved in curating feminist exhibitions.
