This series of research seminars, organized in Colombia, Argentina, andBrazil, focused on Latin American and United States Latino art from1960 to 1990. It challenges the dominant narrative of modernism thatplaces Latin American and Latino art in the margins. Working together,senior scholars and advanced graduate students analyzed the history ofLatin American avant-garde and neo-vanguard art from a comparativeperspective, focusing on such topics as transnational exchanges amongartists and collectives, and the impact of political and economic change.
