Resumen:
This paperinvestigatestheuseofUV?vis,nearinfrared(NIR)andsynchronousfluorescence(SF)
spectrometriescoupledwithmultivariateclassificationmethodstodiscriminatebiodieselsampleswith
respecttothebaseoilemployedintheirproduction.Morespecifically,thepresentworkextends
previousstudiesbyinvestigatingthediscriminationofcorn-basedbiodieselfromtwootherbiodiesel
types (sunflowerandsoybean).Twoclassificationmethodsarecompared,namelyfull-spectrumSIMCA
(soft independentmodellingofclassanalogies)andSPA-LDA(lineardiscriminantanalysiswith
variablesselectedbythesuccessiveprojectionsalgorithm).Regardlessofthespectrometrictechnique
employed,full-spectrumSIMCAdidnotprovideanappropriatediscriminationofthethreebiodiesel
types. Incontrast,allsampleswerecorrectlyclassifiedonthebasisofareducednumberofwavelengths
selectedbySPA-LDA.ItcanbeconcludedthatUV?vis,NIRandSFspectrometriescanbesuccessfully
employedtodiscriminatecorn-basedbiodieselfromthetwootherbiodieseltypes,butwavelength
selectionbySPA-LDAiskeytotheproperseparationoftheclasses.
