Resumen:
Pepper production in Argentina is concentrated in two main districts, around Mendoza and in the northern border regions of the provinces of Tucumán, Catamarca and Salta. It is much less important than edible peppers, although they are still almost 1500 hectares. Farmers grow only non-spicy varieties, in many places more regional varieties, for the production of flour, but there are also hot peppers, but their cultivation is almost insignificant, and those varieties resemble Hungarian cherry peppers. The system of production conditions is based solely on the market, there is no subsidy, the objective of state research is to improve the competitiveness of small producers, who are at a significant competitive disadvantage in the market.
