Resumen:
This article provides an analytical overview of four stages of late medieval peninsular vernacular historiography: Alfonsine, post-Alfonsine, Alfonso XI and López de Ayala. By means of an examination of the history of the immediate past in multiple chronicles, the article proposes an analysis of the nature of ideology, of medieval historiography and of medieval history, grounded in extensive theoretical reflections.
